Organization system guide

Pantry organization by category and turnover

A pantry works best when categories are visible, older items can be noticed and the space can handle normal replenishment.

Use broad categories

Baking, breakfast, canned foods and snacks are easier than dozens of tiny subcategories.

Design for turnover

Frequently replenished categories need predictable homes.

Avoid hidden duplicates

Deep shelves benefit from risers or pull-forward bins.

Keep important package information

Do not decant products when doing so loses preparation, ingredient, allergy or date information you still need.

Practical boundary. Measure first, respect product load limits, and do not improvise wall, ceiling or overhead installations when the structure or appropriate hardware is uncertain.
